Much of this home had not been updated since it was built in 1961. After decades of smokers living in the home, unattended to maintenance, and some odd reworking of the walls in the 90’s, moving into Grandma’s home required quite a bit of work.
New kitchen, bathrooms, electrical, roof, plumbing, hardwood flooring, raised ceilings, windows, drywall, HVAC, doors, and more; a massive transformation took place inside and out.
In the end, Grandma visited and hated the wood floors (carpet was her preference), the walls were too white (avocado green was her vibe), and why would anyone have gray cabinets in a kitchen?? Luckily, her granddaughter loves the home we have built, and still loves her grandmother, despite her taste in decor.
Before / After
-
Before
Goodbye avocado green and popcorn ceilings.
-
After
The fireplace serves as a reminder of the past.
-
Out with the old...
Through-back to the 1960’s Ojai Ranch Rambler.
-
...in with the new.
Raised ceilings celebrate the space (and the dreaded gray cabinets).
-
90's Bathroom
Clearly the toilet no longer worked, and the pink tile was complements of the 90’s.
-
Light and Bright
A reconfigured layout made this bathroom more functional.
-
Goodbye
The OG primary bathroom.

Hello!
Absorbing space from other rooms created a true primary ensuite.
